My previous post asked what is a good photograph from an artistic point of view. Here, I ask a different question: Must a good photograph be an artistic one?. Can’t a good photo simply be a photo in which I, or any other photographed object, look good in it? In other words, what if it is not the artistic value that counts, but the way in which the subject of the photograph is evaluated?
The year 2020 imprisoned us at home for hours, days and months. It was a period of longing for outdoors, but also of opportunities for a different photography.
Much has changed during the past year, the Covid-19 year (this post was originally posted on April 2021). One of them was the decree that people cannot visit their personal hairdresser, the one person they trust to shape their image. The risk of exposure to Covid-19 is even higher for my mom, who is 97 years old. That qualified ME as her hairdresser.
